Personal, Professional MUSIC TEACHING - THE WAY IT SHOULD BE
"Apparently today is Thank Your Teacher Day - so Mr Richard Batty, music teacher extraordinaire, I thank you for starting me out on a great journey of discovery and giving me the opportunity to find new pleasures and joy. You are The Man!"

GUITAR LESSONS

Part of the 'armory' of guitars I use.
Playing the guitar is one of today's most rewarding and creative hobbies. I can teach you what you want to know, for the pure enjoyment of playing, or for study to a qualification if you wish to do so.
Have you tried internet lessons and found they just do not fit the bill? Your lessons with me will be tailored totally to your needs. There is no 'factory farming' of pupils on a teaching method with a one size fits all approach so often found in instrument teaching and tutor books.
I teach:-
electric guitar; - all styles
acoustic guitar; in both pick and finger styles.
bass guitar; including fretless bass.
Whether you are an abosolute beginner or have been playing for a while I can help. Many students tell me that they have been playing for a long time, but have 'hit a brick wall' and progress has come to a halt. Let me help you to deal with that and release your potential.
Where students wish to follow a certificated course of study I regularly teach Rockshool and Registry of Guitar Teachers grades taught to grade 8. Post grade 8 students wishing to progress to diploma levels are most welcome.
Preparation and entry for other diplomas and exam certificates at all instruments, Electric, acoustic and bass guitars.
All styles and genres catered for including Jazz, orchestral guitar, rock, country, blues, slide, metal, pop, indie and just about everything else!
Unlike many teachers who only use the 'TAB' method of reading (a plan of the guitar neck with numbers indicating which frets to use) I offer the additional benefit of teaching full music score reading at the guitar where that is required.
You are never too old to learn and all ages are catered for carefully and professionally. Whether you are a child or an adult, your needs will be sympathetically met. In particular if you are at the time of life when you are leaving work, learning to play a musical instrument is one of the most rewarding things you can do.

I can highly recommend Richard as a true professional, and great listener. What’s more – he really CARES!
I am still learning, and will continue to learn – with Richard’s help. So to the future . . . . . (T.P, existing Adult guitar Student)
